Using the same time-honored techniques, transitional rugs are inspired by traditional designs but incorporate the use of today’s color palette. Often the designs are simplified to give them a more tailored or quieter look. After weaving, transitional rugs will often be given a special wash to soften the colors or to capture the appearance of an antique patina.
